Deerslayer

This book is written by, well, I don't remember. But, if I remember, I will type it in. Anyhoo, it's the prequel to The Last of the Mohicans. If any of you have read that, this book is about the character Hawkeye in The last of the Mohicans. In the story two guys go to visit this one old guy and his 2 daughters who live ON a lake. They have this house that is on poles, so they live in the middle of the lak cuz it's safe from the indians there. One of the guys names is Deerslayer. (He ends up being Hawkeye, just so you know.) Deerslayer is American, and he's been living with the Deleware indians, so that's why his name is that. The book had a good polt, but the characters seemed to get captured, then escape right after another. The worst part about the whole book was when Deerslayer would go off on a speech. Now, he's supposed to be around his early twenties but he talked like an old man! When he'd start to go off on one of his speeches, I'd just skim towards the end, and I'd pretty much get the gist of things. What was pretty funny was that he'd go off on these speeches in the middle of a simple conversations, or while they all were in the middle of danger. If it were a real story, I bet he would have been shot by an indian cuz he'd be standing there 'speechifying.' hahaha...
